Who is David Horn...

Raconteur and Aspiring Polymath

I am a software developer, businessman, consultant, gamer, writer, amateur philosopher, and studying statistician. I'm fascinated with technology/lifestyle convergence to such a depth that I think I'm pretty weird. I'm mostly introverted, because I'm far less interesting than the worlds I immerse myself in.

I am founder and developer for Technarium. The group focuses on writing small apps that fill important needs in the web 2.0 space. I write short fiction, which I will soon start publishing at stories.raconteuring.com. I participate in NaNoWriMo, but have yet to finish. I regularly attend PAX, barcamp, and any other venue which helps me connect with people, technology, and digital media.

The power of stories

The experiences of a single person are a very narrow slice of the range of possibilities for the human experience. No matter how worldly our life becomes, we are ultimately narrow and parochial compared to the sum of lives across the world. This is not a dilemma of the modern age. This idea dates back to the days of Aristotle.

I love stories of all kinds. They extend our education beyond our own lives. You find stories in books, in photos, in music, in statistics, and in a person's eyes. It allows us to connect with other people, sharing their experiences.

This site is an experiment in telling my story and the stories I come across. That story will be told in word, picture, and statistic in as near to real time as possible.
